Alpine Training in Wales
In Wales we can offer training in skills of Alpine mountaineering but in a non-Alpine environment.
The key training elements that we can offer are glacier travel (taking coils and long roping), crevasse rescue, short roping and moving together over moderate Alpine rocky terrain and basic safety principles of moving around safely in Alpine mountains.
As far as winter skills go we can also offer ice axe and crampon training (when we have snow on the Welsh hills), plus avalanche training as well. This can include theory on the causes and avoidance of avalanches, and also practical skills such as using Avalanche safety beacons (transceivers/ARVA) and conducting mock search excercises.
Prusikking...on a sea cliff rather than a crevasse!
